The Patagonian Mara, also known as the Patagonian Cavy or the Patagonian Hare, is a unique mammal native to South America. Resembling a blend of rabbit and deer, these social creatures have long legs, slender bodies, and large ears.

They are often found in small groups, grazing and frolicking across the grasslands and scrublands of Argentina and surrounding regions.

Lifespan

The lifespan of Patagonian Maras in the wild is typically around 8 to 10 years.

However, in captivity, where they receive proper care and protection from predators, they can live longer, with some individuals reaching up to 14 years of age or more.

Weight & Diet

Patagonian Maras typically weigh between 8 to 16 kilograms.

As herbivores, their diet primarily consists of grasses, herbs, and other vegetation found in their native habitats.
